  3. too many documents, too many emails, too much to process - and all this whilst managing cases who pose a risk to others and themselves. What else have I missed, I wonder? What will Mon morning bring this time? Last week it was a recall for a weekend incident involving high risk case with undiagnosed mental health issues (severe pd); events were as predicted but with no-one offering a suitable environment, the make-do-and-mend mentality is always a creak away from total collapse. Not one "provider" was prepared to work with this case: "too risky"; "too dangerous"; "staff aren't trained for that sort of work". I can't afford to lose track, yet here we are being bombarded by paperwork and choices (hobson's choice).

And now I find I' m missing the bleeding obvious. SFO, here I come!

    1. I understand how you feel completely. In trying to keep this blog up to date I've become aware that there's a veritable mountain of stuff coming out and much of it to do with TR is confusing, ill-thought-out and quite clearly incapable of working.

I'm trying to keep the messages simple and straightforward, but it's not easy.

  4. The death of goodwill ? Is now the time for all staff to register "stress letters" with HR via their health and safety reps ? Having read the above post as well as my own experience, it is clear that - as predicted - the wheels are starting to fall off. In order to maintain our former high standards there was utter reliance on "goodwill hours" ie officers going the extra mile in their OWN TIME. We have been treated so appallingly by Grayling that we can not deal with the constant stream of information / disinformation and maintain normal service. It is simply not possible with so many of us facing Christmas and the New Year not knowing if we have jobs, what they will be and with whom. It is incredible that loyal public servants have been treated this way. Sadly, we are watching a disaster unfold and I fear the only protection may be to register with your employer that your level of performance is affected by the stress you are working under. Let's see the employer held accountable for the drop in performance ( with potentially serious consequences) not the employee. Register your stress letter now.

    1. A very good point - I really do get an uneasy feeling of trouble brewing everywhere from comments coming in. We all have a duty to look after our own welfare, as well as that of others.

  5. Thanks folks - yet again the invaluable nature of this blog shines through. Simple, positive advice for a muddled brain - and supportive comments too. May our own deities Bless Us All. And if the deities can/do have an influence, maybe Grayling and co will rot in their own personal hell for the damage they've inflicted upon decent people.
