  3. Still think those Napo members who crossed picket lines today should do the honourable thing and resign from the union tomorrow or union legislation should be changed to ask them to leave....

    1. I agree. Those people would soon use the union if have disciplinary or grievance proceedings

    2. I didn't strike previously but I did today. I felt I could not continue moaning about our current situation without doing something about it. However, all union members have to pay their fees and whether our colleagues are in a position to strike or not or in some cases cannot afford to strike, they do contribute and should not be penalised. Come on folks we are probation officers and need to be open minded and not judgemental. Supporting our colleagues whatever stance they take.

Regards to you all United we stand !!

    3. If you are in NAPO and I hear you moaning, but won't come out on strike, shame on you. We need you to show your mettle. You can still strike tomorrow.

    1. With respect, there are offices across the country with only three staff so do not assume this is evidence of anything in terms of a lack of commitment. The fundamental fact is that Probation staff oppose TR (even our Senior Management team have grave concerns). Our line was joined by PCS, UNITE and UNISON members offering support in their lunch hours.

    2. thats nice but if you don't say things like 5 people on picket out of 7 in office etc it just looks like a couple of odd bods standing waving flags.

    3. There has been no MoJ statement claiming only (say) "30% of staff out of the office" I wonder why? We are in a media savvy world and NAPO members are quickly getting to grips with that - I watched the six o'clock news said probation and solicitors are on strike....not 10% turnout for strike!
If I work in an office by myself and walk out that is 100% turnout - NAPO can ,and do, safely quote such fine examples ... not the alternative.
Monitoring Twitter today , I got a good sense of UNIVERSAL action and remember tomorrow is the key day .......Have you also seen that PCC spoke at one branch meeting ....they are a key partner in the TR project ...that will worry Grayling/Wright

    4. I know at least one of the offices whose photo above shows 'only' 3 people, and it's a photo of only PART of their picket line! Why so keen to do the strike down?

    5. Guidance is that you should not have more than 6 in a picket line, so don't draw any conclusions. The strike as well supported today.

    6. According to: - GOV.UK

      "Mass picketing

Police have special powers to stop a mass picket if they think there’s a danger of:

serious public disorder (like a riot)
      serious damage to property

The Code of Practice on picketing says usually there should be no more than 6 people outside an entrance to a workplace.

If you don’t stop picketing when told do so by police, you can be arrested."

  7. Come off it ! They are our NAPO members taking part in difficult industrial action at a personal financial loss to themselves and in the spirit of unity.
Together in pairs or standing alone in we salute them taking the message out there in all its forms. They may well have been a few from a office of a hundred or more they are the few making the difference and having the commitment to a cause Those you see are the ones who cared and we need to encourage strike and support our colleagues the same criticism might be made of your post.

  8. Don't let the MoJ apolgists & gremlins irritate you. They're monitoring napo and trying to find anything to whine about. They're on the back foot and sticking needles in where they can, hoping to hit a soft spot. Good effort all round. Lets hope tomorrow brings some powerful speeches.

  9. Great stuff - if you can - when you have your photos taken tomorrow, please make either your branch or location clear - the photos are VERY impressive, especially the small groups, I once worked in a probation office where I was the only full time probation practitioner based at that office!

The naysayers have no idea how diverse are the locations where probation folk work, throughout England and Wales - that they come to this site to post provocative messages - suggesting the numbers in a photo are indicative of the numbers who reject the dangerous TR policy which will fail reveals how desperate they are and how little they understand the reality of probation and the criminal justice system in England and Wales.

The Grayling gag also has something to do with few identifying themselves personally in websites - pathetic - use a clampdown on free speech to shore up flawed policy - how dangerous is that from - so called responsible adult people in positions of power over the rest of us?
