Having at last deigned to appear for questioning by Parliament's Scrutiny Committee yesterday, Boris once more cut a shambolic figure, floundering, clearly not in command of much in the way of detail and still intent on trying to defend the indefensible. He wants us all to 'wash our hands and move on' of course, but we're not and the Cummings saga has a long way to run yet. Why not do your bit and consider investing in a collectors item, a few cans of 'Barnard Castle Eye Test' from Brewdog:-
NEW ENGLAND IPA

very good! Thanks Jim.
ReplyDeleteDurham Police have issued a statement confirming Cummings did break regulations. This tweet from the Secret Barrister is very important in view of widespread misunderstanding of word 'might':-
ReplyDeleteLots of excitement about “might”. The reason for this is that the police don’t determine breaches; they form an opinion. If that opinion is disputed, a court will decide. In this context, “might” means the police concluded it *was*. Hence they say they would have sent him back.
Meet up to SIX others not from your household outside, can be in your garden but NOT INSIDE your house ... UNLESS you have to go through the house to reach the garden - so now we know how to get into Dominic's garden.
ReplyDeleteRepeat, you CANNOT enter another household.
DeleteErm, except to go to their garden.
Oh, and if you want to use their loo.
Or eat breakfast at their table?
Or sleep in their bed?
Or just generally spread the fucking virus.
is that one from six other households, or various combinations from up to five other households?
DeleteOr do you need to own the property?
What about rental property? Or leasehold? Or squatting?
I've just come to understand that these PR stunts are equivocal waffle EXCEPT when it comes to Cummings, when its absolute.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to self immolate.
How did your NPS or CRC area respond to HMIP inspections?

I hadn't realised that HGV drivers' hours regulations had been "relaxed" during the covid pandemic:
ReplyDelete"In response to unprecedented pressures on local and national supply chains, the Department for Transport has pursuant to Article 14(2) of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, introduced a temporary and limited urgent relaxation of the enforcement of EU drivers’ hours rules in England, Scotland and Wales. It has also introduced a temporary and limited urgent relaxation of the enforcement of GB drivers’ hours rules in England, Scotland and Wales.
This relaxation began on 23 March and was due to end on 21 April 2020.
A specific review of the continuation of the relaxations past 21 April has been conducted and, on the basis of the current evidence, a decision has been made to continue with the relaxations, (apart from the relaxation on break requirements) until 23:59 on Sunday 31 May 2020."

Blimey!
ReplyDeleteDominic Cummings told people that when he made his questionable trip to Durham, that he stayed at a “spare cottage” on his parents estate. However, as of today, Mr Cummings is still shown as the registered owner of the property along with his parents and another family member. Therefore, Cummings trip was more of a journey to his second home, than it was out of a necessity for childcare.

Just goes to show you. Cummings ain't no modern day rebel ain't working people's hero ain't man of the common good. He is a posh boy rich as and can afford to be the scruffy psudo intellectual pretentious wannabe. Sucking up to power status and achievement of his class chums. Tory scum they will kill and impoverish all of us.
DeleteFound the day before Brexit vote blog Jim. You're right, you didn't say which way you were voting, but lots of reasons given to vote leave: http://probationmatters.blogspot.com/2016/06/every-vote-counts.html?m=1
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of that piece!
DeleteI read yesterday that Cummings was becoming so pissed off with the media on his doorstep all the time and the continuous heckling from neighbours, he was considering complaining to his local MP.
ReplyDeleteAs a resident of Islington however I wonder who his MP might be?????
Good luck with that one!
