Those Weasel Words In Full

Here's what the London CRC, owned by MTCnovo, has to say in response to today's damning HMI report:-

HMIP Quality and Impact Inspection Report into North London

We recognise the importance of independent inspection and appreciate we have a number of improvements to make. London CRC is already addressing these issues through our Ambition 2020 Change Plan designed to fix an organisation that has been underperforming for many years, as highlighted in many previous HMIP reports including the last one published in 2014.

Our Change Plan, introduced prior to the Inspection, is already addressing the recommendations made in the Report and is more far reaching as it identifies and tackles the many legacy issues inherited from the London Probation Trust. The Change Plan has a clear objective to reduce reoffending and protect the public across London.

The number one priority for London CRC is public protection, which is at the core of all that we do. Since the Inspection, we have continued to make significant progress in reducing caseloads managed by our staff, prompt enforcement, and quality of offender supervision. This is all informed by the high priority we give to protecting the public. We have already taken steps to ensure that every single case is being actively managed to further protect the public. It’s important to recognise that only 40 cases were inspected, just 0.13%, of London CRC’s caseload.

Given our commitment to public protection, we are pleased that the Report acknowledges the proportion of offenders who were recorded as having successfully completed their period of licence or Post-Sentence Supervision with London CRC is 86.9%, against a performance figure for all England and Wales of 74.6%, and a target of 65%.

We have committed significant investment into London CRC including staff training, new ICT systems and bringing in new management disciplines.

We remain focused on delivering high quality and effective services with the aim of protecting the public, reducing reoffending and enforcing the sentence of the Court. Therefore, we welcome the return of the Inspectorate next year, which will give us an opportunity to demonstrate significant further improvements to probation services delivered by London CRC.

    1. If she recognised the right thing she wouldn't be incompetent. Ambition way above ability here and oblivious to her own failings. Reputation is everything and earned from integrity

  4. What is the staffing profile?

    We're redundancies made?

    Are there front line vacancies?

Is there local admin support for frontline teams?

Is there supportive management and leadership locally and globally?

    Just asking!

    1. I had an email from an agency the other day stating that they had 35 vacancies to fill in London CRC. Who knows how many more there are?

  6. Given that no one ever sees offenders. it;s no wonder that the CRC has recorded a successful completion rate of over 86% when the national average is only 65%. How can that be. Thats just another stat to look at. its a shocking lie as they are closing when they have not been seen

    1. I don't want to cast aspersions, but "the proportion of offenders who were recorded as having successfully completed their period of licence or Post-Sentence Supervision with London CRC is 86.9%" is not the same as "86.9% of offenders successfully completed etc etc". Everything comes down to the recording, and in that respect there a number of ways to put lipstick on a pig...

  7. Helga and London MTNOVO CRC I have just opened my lovely new PC lap top separator tablet and touchscreen HD ready wireless surround sounds Bluetooth rumble 3D and scratch screen smell awareness Christmass gift. I used it to read the blog today and its bloody amazing as soon as the statement came out I scratched the screen and a picture of a farm came up with a smell of BULLSHIT wafting through had to open all the doors to clear. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and read anything from McTnovo at the same time.

  13. I feel sorry for the London CRC staff. The POs and PSOs on the front line. The SPOs being pulled in all directions and the ACOs who are getting it in the neck from their bosses.
None of them asked for this. None of them would want this. But they will get the blame. It's worth noting that there is no one in the senior management team above ACOs with probation experience anymore.

    1. We are know raho is the real leader of napo.

    2. Well I for one am astonished that the chair of London Napo has had more influence on media reports of an issue with London CRC than the chair of Napo in a region 200 miles away.

    3. Peros is Chair of Devon branch isn't he. Nothing to do with London. Wish people would get facts straight.

    4. 18.41 your argument doesn't hold up. Raho is sorting out all the CRCs. Peros does just one crc. That's thr difference. Both good boys but Raho is one step ahead of us all.

    5. Oh Dear we have been here before they are both great Napo activists and be sure Dino is well on for a range of things that complement NAPO and David Raho. There is a joint interest and they will both respect their joint and mutual obligations to membership. Have no doubt. The enemy is the privatisation and the split not our able and committed chairs.

  15. Q. What's the difference between HM Inspectorate and a Black Cab?
    A. HM Inspectorate "don't go sarf of the river at any time of the day mate!"

South London Posse breathed a collective sigh of relief.

  16. I think the biggest concern for Novo is how much this is going to cost them! To think the shareholders are concerned about staff and offenders is risible.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Exactly! So why are private companies who don't give a shit about offenders, staff or the public being allowed to run the crc's. Idiotic decision on the part of the government.

  18. Well said 17.58 I think there will be many across the Country that can readily identify with that and indeed whilst there maybe others in a slightly better place and dong good work too can also share/recognise those experiences too Been a very busy day on Twitter which makes the lack of National news very disappointing indeed . I do hope/pray that something good will come from today not least out of care/respect for ALL those pressing On That makes me feel proud of Probations Legacy that there are those who still care and show compassion in All that they do across ALL grades Fault for ALL this lies with the Government Lets hope this is a wake up call Take Care everybody

  19. The funny thing is that the inspection report is only scratching the surface. Things are a lot worse than this in London. Imagine if they had looked at 400 case!!

  20. Well things are looking up now that the guardian has joined forces with our cause. Working links are still hiding information about the huge increase in sfo's since they took over but no doubt someone will tip off the guardian soon. Sfo inspections must be taken out of the hands of private companies who suppress the facts and be given to an independant body. The facts will cime out, it is only a matter of time. Stand firm and refuse to cover up or massage the figures. Keep your records up to date and include details regarding lack of time to do tasks properly, problems with lack of interview space, IT etc. Because when the inspectors call they need to know the truth. Noms and moj can stick their heads up liz truss'ass but they will sooner or later have to pull them out and face the music.

    1. Working Links are a laughing stock company. They are dishonest and incapable of understanding what they need to have done in the first place. Severance has been a relief as it is the only fast way out of their bullying approach to anyone that resists in any way. The SFOs are being hidden staff absences and low morale. No leadership reduced pay and everyone bar a few feels under attack. It will not be long before the landslide of common sense and public scrutiny expose the illness they are. A small company that invades and takes over the host wont last long.

  21. Glad to hear MCT novo is putting straight all that previous underperformance. I mean, a joined up service working towards the same goals? Must have been appalling.

  22. Really good to see Probation coming together as one! This has gone on long enough. The Tories with Grayling at the helm need to be accountable for putting the public at risk in this way. I would have more respect for Truss if she were to acknowledge this as a priority instead if hiding behind this Probation review.

  24. I would rather be a fool and very naïve than give up any hope on any effort to make a difference. However, minuscule that maybe. I too hope that in coming together we can draw strength from each other and use the skills, experience, knowledge, diversity, passions and indeed Leadership too speak increasingly with one voice. I was also struck by the determination to do the Government Will and the remarkable efforts to make this work. Now we MUST put those same efforts back into keeping this Flame alive whilst also doing our very best to support and encourage ALL those staff who are doing their upmost best Including this readership
