  1. Poor state of Napo with low vote turnout and some branches not submitting nominations. A shame as this is an opportunity to make changes in Napo starting at the top.

    I’ve three questions for nominees.

    1. Why has Napo been so quiet about CRC’s asking for more money and threatening to end probation contracts?
    2. Why has Napo allowed NPS staff to be subject to police-style vetting, which is being justified as “required for access to Visor”, even though we do not need to use Visor?
    3. Where is our pay rise?

  2. FOLLOW NATIONAL EXEC RECCOMMENDATION VOTE IL: MORE OF THE SAME. DETERIORATION OF WORKING CONDITIONS/WORKERS RIGHTS/LACK OF REPRESENTATION TO PROTECT OUR PROFFESSIONALISM AND COMMITMENT TO ADDRESSING OFFENDING THROUGH ENGAGING SERVICE USERS
    TURKEYS DONT VOTE FOR XMAS
COULD YOU REALLY PUT UP WITH THIS SHOWER FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS?
I CAN'T AND WON'T HOWEVER FEAR FOR THOSE THAT REMAIN IN PROBATION

    1. Anon 16:32 I was tempted to delete this contribution because shouting in capital letters strikes me as quite rude and any intended message is likely to be ignored as a consequence. As I'm in a fairly good mood, I'll let it pass on this occasion.

  3. Anon 16:32 is right. “The NEC selected Ian Lawrence as their nominated candidate for the General Secretary position”. This is “MORE OF THE SAME” and because Napo has severely deteriorated under Ian Lawrence’s watch he should not have received this nomination. Have they no shame?

  4. For what might be the final time, napo members will reap what they sow. There is always choice, they just seem to be unable to choose well.

Ledger & Lawrence have poor track records. Between them they have screwed the members' upside out. For the last 10 years or so napo the union has declined in status, efficacy & membership. Napo the professional body has disappeared. The profession itself has been sliced, diced, wrapped up in cheap contracts & handed over to the circling loan sharks - with napo's blessing. Unbelievable. Unforgivable. Unsustainable.

  5. 1743 ignore at your peril.Delete if you wish......sometimes the truth hurts. Capitals can also indicate a strong statement rather than SHOUTING. Appologies my phone was stuck on capitals however I couldnt be bothered to change.
Thought this blog was free speech?

  6. Sorry I agree with Jim. If someone sends me a shouty email I tend to delete it.

Napo was never really a union. It was more concerned with being a professional association. However this election might represent a change. Make the union cheaper. Forget the publications! If it’s a fiver a month people will join!

Let’s be honest neither candidate is ideal. Basing it on what little I know about the candidates plus a bit of life experience is that it’s much easier to send in a rottweiler for a fight than it is to put the fight into a lab. Too many leaders have had too little of the fight in them for my liking. Rolfe presents more fight in him than any potential leader for some time. Things need to be brought to a head. We cannot limp along in this way for much longer. We need some bloody publicity!

I’ve met so many officers over the years who were proper dinosaurs (meant as a compliment). People who stood up for themselves. Why do we keep electing weak leaders?!

If we refused to write PSR’s for a month we would soon get in the news! Everything would grind to a hault!

Before people didn’t care but the tide is turning. People are fed up of rubbish services. Violent crime is on the up and people want something done. Surely probation can be a big part of the solution?!

  7. I do not understand how Cumbria and Lancashire Branch nominated anyone as it has not met as a Branch to cast any vote on this!I will be querying this with Branch Chair asap.

    1. Likewise I do not know how London Napo made the decision ‘not to nominate’. There was no message or request for views sent from London Napo before or after this apparent decision, and it was not scheduled on the meeting agenda sent 14th May.
