It's That Time of Year Again

Having at last done my bit for the economy, met all deadlines, achieved all targets and caught up with most colleagues and friends, it's time to batten down the hatches, steady the nerves and prepare for several days of over-indulgence.

To all my readers, old and new, I wish you a happy Christmas and a great New Year. I have reason to feel that 2012 will signal renewed enthusiasm for the written word with one or two new thoughts and comments to add to the whole criminal justice debate. For a kick-off, don't miss the long-awaited three part BBC 1 probation drama 'Public Enemies' due for screening on January 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Apparently Harry Fletcher from NAPO has given the production company some advice. I wonder what it was and if they took any notice........?

Cheers for now,

Jim

  3. Not sure when Harry Fletcher last saw an offender, apart from those rehabiliated ones they wheel out at conferences & seminars but hey, anything's better than nothing!

  5. To be fair to Harry, the offenders haven't changed much since I've been involved and lifers are pretty much the same as they have always been. Its only successive Home Secretaries/Justice Secretaries and their spin doctors that think the offender is a new and unknown species.

  6. I really, really hope that the "probation drama" contains a scene from Conference whereby much time and debate is consumed by the assembled probation staff deciding whether or not the nipples of the nymphs supporting the venue's proscenium arch should be suitably covered.

£10 to the reader who can recall and name the Conference town, the year and the venue!

    Happy New Year.
