Joanna Hughes Interview

ReplyDeleteBrilliant interview. It's rather revealing that the LibDems are taking the view that let's see what happens down the road, and take it from there. Basically, they are unwilling to apply the brakes to this omnishambles of privatisation! We need to now do everything in our power to make sure that examples of things going wrong are recorded privately and forwarded to NAPO HQ. It may assist the Judicial Review which is probably our last hope of derailing this sorry state of affairs.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree we need to keep up our efforts and there's plenty of examples of things going wrong that we need to record and highlight. This is proving to be a difficult challenge and if we do not continue with our fight we will lose and be sorry.

Thanks Andrew - I never realised local radio was on i-player! So, eight days to hear the whole thing guys.
DeleteAs an aside, Joanna tells me that sadly all her stuff about the under 12 month group was edited out - but there's always a next time.
I served as a Probation Officer in London, East and West Sussex between 1994 and 2001. It is so desperately sad to see the demise of this public service. However, it was important to hear from Joanna and others like her to hear the truth of what is really going on! The rot didn't begin necessarily with any one particular political allegiance, although this Government has created a maelstrom. The rot happened once we gave up our traditional Social Work training and qualifications and started accepting that 'anyone' could do this job or manage it's organisation successfully!
