Looking forward to a similarly painful expose of Grayling/Spurr etc etc. Today's injured staff at HMP Scrubs might also have a view?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8578343158425987632.post-64511595006368283802016-05-08T13:14:21.099+01:002016-05-08T13:14:21.099+01:00I do agree. It has said nothing about the erosion of probation officer role boundaries which is encouraged by its warped professional register. It's the only professional association I know of that puts the non-qualified and non-practicing managers above the professionally qualified.

http://probation-institute.org/membership/

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8578343158425987632.post-12619709420685289272016-05-08T12:25:59.414+01:002016-05-08T12:25:59.414+01:00Unfortunately I agree with Probation Officer if yo...Unfortunately I agree with Probation Officer if you can get out do so our highly developed skills are not appreciated by our dictators they are only interested I meeting targets The work of a Probation Officer is tough enough but add on to that the constant battles with our managers it's unsustainable and takes its toll on our wellbeing Life's too short Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8578343158425987632.post-42152894597906395832016-05-08T12:16:08.917+01:002016-05-08T12:16:08.917+01:00Anon 11:49, I completely agree about the PI and ca...Anon 11:49, I completely agree about the PI and can never forgive those involved for failing to support the professional PO qualification or as you point out, the award of fellowships. The overwhelming majority of former public sector probation ( gold standard need I remind you) staff have shown the PI the contempt it deserves. As for the other members well most of them were joined for free, never consulted just enrolled by the employer and look how many are renewing their memberships. The PI should fade now, it deserves to.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8578343158425987632.post-33823074978980945062016-05-08T11:49:34.071+01:002016-05-08T11:49:34.071+01:00... The PI is just another vessel for the further privatisation of probation. It should have never been headed by the PCA and PA, who in their typical cronyism style have already given fellowships to their former probation chief officer friends and are actively courting the Ministry of Justice and the owners of CRC's. When the PI fails we'll say good riddance. I wonder if you could let us have your thoughts about Probation workers, similar to yourself, who like you feel a strong sense of Probation and who continue to do their best to help the people they work with but who are faced with the shambolic fragmentation of Probation Services and all that that means for them and others; untenable workloads, constant reactive change, stress and demoralisation and much more. Should they stay and fight the good fight or take their passion and skills elsewhere?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
